As a Camp Registered Nurse, responsibilities include; the medication administration and care of ill campers, staff, guests and visiting athletes. Within this role there are varying degrees of processes in which must be understood and prioritized in order to successfully achieve the daily operations of this department.  Camp Nurse should be knowledgeable in general nurse care, drug administration and overall care for youth and adults. Must be willing to evolve and adapt with the needs of the business.

This position is classified under California's Camp Counselor exemption (LAB 118.4 and Wage Order 5). Employees are paid a weekly salary of 85% of their hourly rate for hours worked between 40- 56 hours per week or will be paid at 85% of their hourly rate for each hour worked if the employee works less than 40 hours per week. Any hours worked over 56 will be paid at overtime rates, in accordance with California labor law.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Maintain and be a knowledgeable resource of current and proposed standards of practice and state guidelines of registered nurses      

Ensuring adherence to HIPPA standards     

Oversee the medicine administration process for all campers, guests, and staff     

Responsible to provide comprehensive nurse care to all campers, guests, and staff     

Work alongside the Transportation department to ensure the best care is provided to all on camp property     

Work alongside athletic trainers and behavioral health professionals to execute the best plan of care for campers, staff, and guests     

Responsible for scheduling and follow-up evaluation and check-in appointments     

Other duties as assigned 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:   

Well-spoken and articulate over the phone, through written contact, and in person    

Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines    

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate supervision, agile, and able to pivot quickly     

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:   

1+ years as a Registered Nurse   

California State Board of Nursing Licensure   

Must have 2+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens    

Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, comfortable presenting and deploying new technologies  

Demonstrate broad technical knowledge of management techniques  

Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.   

Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, to work as part of a team. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

+/- 8 campers in clinic   

BASIC SCHEDULE/RESPONSIBILITIES 

Maintain a positive learning environment for clinical education of nurses and other medical personal   

Maintain and be a knowledgeable resource of current and proposed standards of practice and state guidelines of registered nurses    

Ensuring adherence to HIPPA standards   

Oversee the medicine administration process for all campers, guests, and staff   

Responsible to provide comprehensive nurse care to all campers, guests, and staff   

Work alongside the Athletic Training staff to ensure the best care is provided to all on camp property   

Recognize changes in patients' condition and respond appropriately 

Oversite of maintaining records on campers, staff, and guests utilizing our internal platforms   

Contribute to overall organization and administration of the infirmary in conjunction with other assigned staff   

Responsible for scheduling and follow-up evaluation and check-in appointments   

Liaison between parents, coaches, program staff, and athletes regarding illness care, prevention, management, and treatment.   

Maintain a positive learning environment for clinical education of student mental health and other medical personal  

Support in leadership roles including cabin checks, orientation, registration and meetings  

Provide on-call overnight coverage as needed every night via phone and radio coverage   

Take infirmary inventory on supplies and operational needs   

Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs.
