Registered Nurse Job, 8 hour Days Shifts (10a-6:30p) with rotating Saturdays (6:30a-3p) and call, Endoscopy

Powers Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for endoscopy to work Days plus call at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.

The endoscopy unit provides care to patients with gastrointestinal problems. The age mix is from early childhood through geriatrics. Endoscopic procedures performed in the GI Lab include Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, ERCP, Peg tube insertion, and Bronchoscopy. Liver biopsy and paracentesis may also be performed. Endoscopic procedures may be performed on both out patients and in house patients. GI Lab staff provides pre and post procedure care to endoscopy outpatients. There are four procedure rooms. There are 10 admission/discharge rooms with monitors.

Registered Nurse Roles and Responsibilities:

Functions as a member of the endoscopy team to deliver peri-operative care to the GI patient.  Has necessary knowledge to prepare and maintain a safe environment, and skills to assist in GI/Endoscopy procedures as well as in endoscopy reprocessing. Provides direct patient care to all patients in the GI Lab in support of medical care as directed by the medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of Community Hospital. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. Displays a high regard for human life and respects the dignity, uniqueness, worth and right of each individual.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Indiana Current BLS certification Current ACLS/PALS certification or must obtain ACLS/PALS certification within one (1) year from date of hire. Minimum of one (1) year Medical – surgical work experience preferred. Telemetry experience preferred.
