Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in Florham Park. This role involves 90% administrative tasks and 10% hands-on patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for phone triage, updating patient files, scheduling procedures, and assisting with medication management. This position offers a great schedule and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients.
ResponsibilitiesPhone triage and managing approximately 180 calls a day.Updating medications and orders.Scheduling procedures and updating patient files.Checking daily schedules for patient volume.Organizing medications for doctors to administer.Updating and researching prescription refills before submission to the doctor.Reviewing patient cases and questions.Employing appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.Maintaining efficient patient flow.Functioning as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.Assuring all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.Ensuring proper preparation for patient visits and preparing pertinent information needed for patient visits.Providing referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.Checking and maintaining logs for emergency equipment according to policy.Collecting lab specimens according to departmental guidelines and accurately labeling specimens.Obtaining vital signs and documenting appropriately in EHR.Demonstrating telephone triage protocols and documenting in EHR.Scheduling appointments according to department guidelines.Reviewing and updating medication lists in EHR and demonstrating understanding of prescription control and refill procedures.Entering orders and scheduling appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.Essential SkillsExperience in patient care and EMR (Athena or Epic preferred).Associates degree in nursing (BSN preferred).Current NJ State Nursing License.Active BLS certification.Experience in outpatient, primary care, and hospital settings.Proficiency in triage protocols.Additional Skills & QualificationsMature and effective problem solver.Strong time management skills.Confident and adaptable.Work Environment
The work environment consists of 90% administrative tasks and 10% hands-on patient care. Duties include triage, updating EMR, checking in patients, and quick revisit clinical work. This is a contract-to-permanent position after 6 months. The shift is Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm with no weekends. The team includes 6 providers, 3 PAs, 3 RNs, 4 MAs, 4 Surgical Schedulers, and 3 PSRs. The physical requirements include pushing, pulling, lifting heavy objects, physical mobility, agility, dexterity, balance, and endurance. The supportive staff and providers create a collaborative environment where you can build long-term relationships with patients.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $53.00
