Right now we’re looking for a Registered Nurses to work in our Withdrawal Management Program. 

 

Location:Wilson Site – Cross Site Coverage may be required – Must be willing to work on all Mental Health Units

Hours of work: Day shift Monday to Friday, some evenings may be required

Hourly Rate Range: $39.07 - $56.00

Employee Group:   ONA 

Reporting Relationship:  Clinical Manager of the Mental Health & Addictions Program

Responsibilities: 

Assessment and motivational counseling for chemically dependent patients with co-morbid psychiatric and/or medical disorders.Ability to match patients to the appropriate level of care and facilitate post discharge treatment planning.Collaborate with all relevant treatment providers to facilitate individualized plan of care.Knowledge of the addictions treatment system and an ability to facilitate the addiction treatment application process preferred.Deliver individual/group education and counselling for patients and their familiesPerform psychiatric and physical assessment of referred patients.Support to the Mental Health Outpatient/Addiction Services and other areas within HRH as required.Help to enhance inpatient and emergency room staff member’s knowledge base re: care for chemically dependent patients through role modeling, discussion      and delivery of unit based education sessions if required. Participate in quality assurance activities and complete relevant data collection for statistical purposes (i.e. DATIS).Other related duties as required.Nurses may be reassigned to other mental health units as per the Collective Agreement

 Requirements:

Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.Current BCLS/CPR certification required.BScN preferred.Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing required, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.Training in Motivational Interviewing, CBT and DBT preferredTwo years recent mental health/addiction nursing experience required.Demonstrated ability to provide individual/group counseling for chemically dependent patients.Excellent psychiatric/addiction assessment skills, including demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention skills.Experience in medical withdrawal management preferred.Demonstrates awareness and understanding in working with individuals from different cultures.Demonstrates an excellent understanding re: the etiology of addiction and mental health illnesses.An awareness and Knowledge/experience in Trauma Informed Care preferredGood knowledge of the Mental Health Act.Demonstrated excellent communication skills.Excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills, with an ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment.Demonstrates initiative and creativity in the workplace.Must be able to work individually as well as work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
