Registered Nurse - Noninvasive Cardiology - Day

Part Time: 32 Hours/Biweekly

Hours: 5:30am - 4:00pm

Weekend and Holiday Rotation, Required

General Summary

Conducts routine telemetry monitored diagnostic cardiac stress testing procedures at an advanced skill and knowledge level. The RN in this role will collaborate with the Cardiology health care team to determine the best testing options for patients undergoing cardiac stress testing. Provides nursing assessment as assigned, including pre-test assessment, monitors patients during testing and has advanced knowledge of ECG interpretation and implementation of protocol driven interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Responsible for responding to urgent/emergent situations during testing. Functions independently following ACLS and department protocols. As assigned may be responsible for the oversight of ECG monitored cardiac stress tests based on approved testing protocols. Monitors patient hemodynamic status during stress tesing.Safely & independently administers medications during procedures according to standardized protocols and physician orders. Monitors patient hemodynamic status during pharmacological stress tests and TEE/Cardioversions.Reviews patient history and risk stratification for stress testing to determine appropriate level of supervision. Consults with a cardiologist as risk stratification indicates.Utilizes nursing process to provide quality, compassionate care in a safe environment. Educates and responds to patient questions and concerns regarding stress test.Maintains documentation in patient record.Follows radiation safety polices as outlined.Proficient at starting IV's.Assists other staff in the department with patient care and & daily tasks when needed.Notifies and collaborates with physician when further patient evaluation/intervention is needed.Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the house wide RN requirements. SYS-NURS-L Nursing Education Requirements Policy outlines current certification(s) required for specific areas of nursing practice and is considered to be part of the job description.In addition to requirements specified in the license and certification section below, current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice is required.Current certification may be required for the following areas of nursing practice:Emergency Care Center - ACLS, PALSIntensive Care Center & MSCC Lead - ACLS, PALSL&D - ACLS, NRP, - Experienced L&D nurses will obtain within 6 months and new L&D nurses will obtain at 1 year of experienceNICU - NRPPEDS - PALSPCC/PACU/ENDO - ACLS, PALSProcedural - ACLS

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Associates Degree RequiredBachelors Degree Nursing (BSN). Preferred

Work Experience:

2 years Acute Care Experience. Required and1 year Cardiology Experience. Required
