Job Summary
Supervises and directs patient care in an individual operating room. Assess patient needs, develops individual plan of care and identifies outcomes. Assure surgical suite is set up properly prior to surgery. Continuously monitor patient and notify providers of any changes. Provides emotional support to the patient and serves as their advocate. Assists with positioning of the patient Monitor and record in the patient's EHR during surgery Assure all equipment in the room is functioning properly Assure surgical suite is cleaned according to standards Ensures that appropriate technique and practices are used according to accepted standards of care. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of special needs of various age groups including child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients when providing care in the surgical suite. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of infection control practices. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of sterile technique. Communicate with reps, assistants, and other members in the OR suite to ensure everyone works together Functions effectively in emergency situations and when under stress. Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy Assists to track and conduct inventory of supplies and equipment used in the room Assists to stock rooms and storage areas with sufficient supplies Assists to pull cases for the next day. Update preference cards and supplies used in the case for billing purposes Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested Other duties as assigned under the scope of licenser
Experience Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies, relations and procedures to administer patient care Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments and administer patient care Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public Ability to maintain quality control standards Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Ability to interpret, adapts, and applies guidelines and procedures Ability to communicate clearlyLicenses and Certifications
RN with current Wisconsin license Upon Hire Required Current CPR Certification Upon Hire RequiredHearing Requirements
