Crouse’s PeriOperative Nurse Academy is unique to the area and offers a foundation for excellence and learning. This professional development initiative provides competitive pay with an in-depth orientation to the challenges and rewards of nursing practice in the PeriOperative arena. Progression through the program is expected to take nine to twelve months. Those accepted must agree to a two year commitment in the OR after completion of the program. Registered Nurse (RN) Position Responsibilities:
Provides professional judgment and knowledge of roles as it pertains to the Crouse Hospital Professional Nursing Practice Model. Carries out duties and responsibilities per legal requirements under the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice, with emphasis on leading a culture of safe care. Responsible for all activities requiring assessment, planning, diagnosing, evaluating, judgment, problem-solving, creating and implementing the plan of care. Provides appropriate education to patients and families to promote health, facilitate rehabilitation and maintain wellness. Evaluates effectiveness and revises as appropriate. Monitors and evaluates patient responses to treatment/plan of care during hospital stay. Utilizes and engages in evidence-based practice to deliver quality patient care. Demonstrates characteristics and skills that promote critical thinking in clinical problem-solving situations.Registered Nurse (RN) Position Requirements:
Must have a current Registered Nurse (RN) license. Graduate from an accredited nursing degree program required. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred. For RNs licensed in or after 2017, completion of a Bachelor’s of Nursing Degree will be required within 8 years of the date the license was obtained. One (1) year of operating room or Surgical Nursing experience Certification in a specialty area preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Benefits Overview:

Full time, 8 hour shifts - 7:00am-3:30pm; After competition of Academy: 7:00am-3:30pm; 11:00am-7:30pm; 3:00pm-11:30pm; 11:00pm-7:30am, with rotation of weekends, holidays and on-callPay Range: $33.00 - $47.86/hour.
