Registered Nurse Residency Program
Overview As a Registered Nurse, you will provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting, supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values and strategic plan. Responsibilities Under direction of unit educator and RN preceptor: • Utilizes the nursing process and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act. • Documents according to standards of care and guidelines. • Initiates a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family education. • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities. • Complete classroom and training as required by RN residency program. Education and Experience ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. RN must have 6 or less months of RN experience. Certification/Licensure Licensed as an RN in state of practice. Approved CPR Certification within 90 days (Other certifications per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, NALS) Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
