Quality Management Specialist - RN, full time, days, 8am-5pm

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this role drives clinical excellence to achieve quality outcomes and objectives. Conducts medical record reviews and identifies areas for improvement and adherence to best practices. Facilitates Medical Peer Reviews, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), and for-cause Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE). Conducts quality data analysis, reviews, and reporting to maintain regulatory requirements and driving clinical outcomes on Pay for Performance Quality programs.
Facilitates the overall Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and for cause Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) activities for the Medical Staff for assigned service lines, performs initial analysis using Medical Staff-approved indicators and creates reports of results for appropriate audiencesEffectively analyzes data to identify trends in peer review and performance metrics and communicates in a timely manner with the Director of Quality and appropriate Medical Staff leaderActs as a partner to assigned Medical Staff Chairs and Peer Review Committee Chairs, and facilitates effective Medical Staff departmental Peer Review committee processes to promote knowledge sharing, collaborative learning, and quality improvement among medical staff.Facilitate the development and implementation of the Quality Management departmental objectives, including contributing to an engaging workplace environment. Participate in root cause analysis and/or regulatory activitiesCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.Performs retrospective chart audits to identify opportunities to improve performance including clinical and/or documentation processes and share findings with relevant stakeholdersSupports clinical improvement projects by participating in various work groups or Quality Projects to achieve the desired outcomes, specifically related to PPC/MHAC, PSI, Mortality etc.Works directly with Medical Staff and/or department leadership to monitor progress, ensure timely implementation of identified strategies and sustainability of improvementsUtilize available data sources to run, benchmark, and interpret data related to quality outcomes.Performs other duties as assignedCompany DescriptionUniversity of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH) offers the residents of northeastern Maryland an unparalleled combination of clinical expertise, leading-edge technology, and an exceptional patient experience.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education & Training: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare required. Graduate of an accredited RN program. Active RN license to practice in the State of Maryland required.
Certifications in Healthcare Quality or related field is preferred.
Work Orientation & Experience: Minimum of two (2) years healthcare experience required. Experience with Maryland’s Quality based reimbursement programs preferred. Previous quality management, risk management, patient safety, or performance improvement experience preferred. Proficient with QI methodologies, applications and theory. Years of experience can substitute educational requirements if applicable.
Skills & Abilities: 1. Strong clinical knowledge and experience in an acute care setting. 2. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a variety of Medical Staff leadership and members, team members, and departmental leaders. 3. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 4. Excellent interpersonal skills. 5. Critical thinking and advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). 7. Knowledge of data collection and analysis. 8. Ability to work with statistical concepts and analysis. 9. Strong planning, organization and time management skills. 10. Ability to structure and organize multiple projects at the same time. 11. Ability to lead and facilitate clinical and multi-disciplinary teams. 12. Ability to build credibility and trust within the organization. 13. Strong teaming skills. 14.
