Responsibilities Responsible for planning, implementing, goal setting and evaluating diabetes self-management training for patients and their families. Provide patients with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage their diabetes. Possess a body of knowledge that spans across disciplines to provide comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT). Provide diabetes self-management training (DSMT) to patients individually and in group classes. DSMT topics include, and are not limited to, explaining diabetes pathophysiology, initiation of insulin, oral agents and/or other diabetes medications, training on glucometers, working with insulin pumps, and education about self-management related hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, chronic complications and foot care. The RN, CDE will be expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act. Qualifications Job Requirements: 1-3 years experience in diabetes education preferred Bachelor’s in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing, required Current RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the applicable State Board of Nursing Certified Diabetes Educator certification recommended, or obtained within 3 years of hire Maintains current BLS
