Unit Information: Progressive / Intermediate Care 6S Boardman

24-bed intermediate unit. Newer building with individual roomsa variety of patients with diagnosis of CHF, COPD, Chest pain, GI Bleed, Sepsis, & renal failureRatio is 1:4/5 without LPN's.Staff is made up of RN’s, PCA’s and student nurse externs.We pride ourselves as a friendly & welcoming staff as well as teamwork!

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for the organization including those for patient assessment and transfer.  The primary function of this job, based on hiring tier, is to be available and flexible to float to various departments, and sites throughout the markets within the organization to provide patient care, which could include but not limited to scheduling day of staffing, more than one assignment location within a single shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns.  Participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. 

Daily float or assigned to:

a unit for 6-week assignmentWork 1 weekend every schedule (schedule = 6 weeks) as assignedWork 1 Winter & 1 Summer Holiday as assigned

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient statusDetermining the priority of the patient’s problems and needsImplementing clinical nursing interventionsHaving a highly diverse skillsetDeveloping and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomesEnsuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions:

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care teamConduct initial and ongoing patient assessmentEvaluates, updates and revises plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomesAdminister medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned

Education:

Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)

Licensing & Certifications:

Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart AssociationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association or Red Cross (If you do not have this certification, Mercy Health will help you gain this certification during Orientation)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association (If you do not have this certification, Mercy Health will help you gain this certification during Orientation)
