ED Education & Pediatric Coordinator - St. Rita's Medical Center

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position:

The ED Education/Pediatric Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing all educational activities that occur within the Emergency service line.  This role will also assist with the onboarding, mentoring and professional development of clinical staff.  In addition, this role will be primarily responsible with improving quality care and outcomes for our Pediatric population. 

               

Essential Job Functions

Provides ongoing education and training to frontline ED/UC clinical staff using a variety of different approaches and platforms.   Unit education needs will, at times, cross all shifts.  Flexibility is a must.Completes frequent educational needs assessments to help plan and guide needed education for the ED/UC.In coordination with ED/UC leadership, ED Physicians, and EM Residency Leaders -- plans all needed education activities for these departments.Assists with onboarding and ongoing mentoring activities for new associates to the ED.Assists with house wide ACLS, PALS and BLS certification processes for all associates.Serves as the ED nursing leader for our pediatric patient population.Reviews, monitors, provides gap analysis, and implements improvements that leads to a successful ongoing Pediatric Readiness certification. Collects, monitors, and interprets data specific to our pediatric population that drives quality improvement.Maintains competency as an ED Clinical Nurse and continues to work clinical shifts as dictated by core responsibilities/schedule demand.Provides direct supervision, leadership and feedback to direct reports.This document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job. 2 Year/ Associates Degree

4 year/ Bachelors Degree

Licensure/Certification Required:

ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC, NIHSS

Licensure/Certification Preferred:

BSN, CEN,

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

3-5 years of ED experience with proven growth and development in current role.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Strong customer service skills. Strong analytical skills. Ability to coordinate efforts with team members within and outside of own department or organization. In-depth knowledge of computer systems and various software programs. Experience developing and maintaining reports. Ability to work independently and self-directed.
