We are seeking an experienced RN who would like to change specialties and work in our 22-bed Pediatric Specialty Care Unit/ Peds Step Down Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital/ Inova L.J. Children's Hospital.
This is a full-time day/night rotation position. 3 x 12-hour shifts each week.

The 22-bed Pediatric Specialty Care Unit (formerly known as PIMC unit) cares for intermediate level patients specializing in renal diagnosis and high flow. Nurses will also care for medical/surgical patients with all diagnoses requiring step-down care. Nurse ratios are 3:1 for IMC status patients and 4:1 for floor status patients. The RN Fellowship program will develop the necessary clinical skills to practice nursing in a competent manner within the pediatric service line. The RN Fellow, in an atmosphere of acceptance and support, will learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats. The RN Fellow participates in learning new knowledge, developing new skills, and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery setting utilizing and applying new knowledge.
The RN Fellow will be given time to learn, opportunities to practice, and mentoring to embed the newly learned skills and knowledge. Communicates effectively with patients and families, team members and medical providers. Creates a collaborative team working environment. Has respect for and understanding of clinical disciplines. Uses a focused, integrated approach toward improving patient outcomes and the patient experience of care delivery.
Requirements:
Minimum of one-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting. BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required. RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN. Education – BSN from an accredited school of nursing.If RN has an Associate degree (ADN)- must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
