Registered Nurse (RN) - Gibbs Infusion Center Gaffney

Position Summary

 

The Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, utilizes knowledge and skills to provide direct age-specific and culturally appropriate care through the use of the nursing process based on knowledge of principles of growth and development, serves as a clinical resource, participates in-patient and staff education, demonstrates leadership, and serves as a preceptor.  Must have current SC Nursing License.

 

Unit Description

 

At Gibbs Infusion Center, our registered nurses are certified to treat patients with infusions of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy medications, utilizing intravenous lines and catheters which administer medication directly into the bloodstream without having to insert a needle for each infusion. Our infusion center also performs other services, such as giving blood transfusions and immunotherapy. Many treatments require several hours per session and are administered at an infusion center. Our practice is a division of Spartanburg Medical Center.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Education        

Graduate of approved nursing program with a BSN

 

Experience      

Excellent IV skills

 

License/Registration/Certifications 

Registered Nurse State of South Carolina BSN Current BLS Successful completion of Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Course in accordance with the curriculum of the Oncology Nursing Society within 6 months of hire date. Maintain current Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider status in accordance with the curriculum of the Oncology Nursing Society

Chemotherapy experience Central line experience

 

Preferred Experience

Oncology Experience with chemotherapy administration and central line access skills

Provides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff Successfully completes hospital and unit based orientation programs Formulates a plan for professional growth Ensures compliance with all clinical expectations regarding regulatory requirements Identifies appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care Complies with established policies and procedures Identifies the need to develop or revise policies and procedures pertaining to specialized patient populations and/or unit and hospital based practices Serves on unit based committees Prioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients Assesses assigned patients’ medical history, admitting diagnosis and physician’s orders, obtaining nursing history, performing physical assessment, evaluating diagnostic data, and interviewing patient and family to determine patient needs Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory. Assures continuity of care through effective decision making resulting in quality patient care Documents all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patient’s progress or any change in the patient’s condition Other Duties as assigned
