Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Experienced Registered Nurse to join the Intermediate Care team. This role will be full-time night shift from Monday – Friday (including some weekends), 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Inova Fairfax Hospital Intermediate Care (IMC) also known as the Medical Critical Care Stepdown Unit (MCCSU) is a 24-bed unit specializing in the care of stable but critically ill patients. Our goal is to provide transition-level care to patients who while stable, still require a high degree of support. The IMC/MCCSU patient population consists of a wide range of both medical and surgical diagnoses including Kidney transplant, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Respiratory Disorders, End of Life Cancer, and Ventilator management with an emphasis on weaning. Assignments are based on patient acuity and staff skill level. The usual nurse/patient ratio is 3:1.

Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships. Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice. Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues. Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning. Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation. Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care. Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.Registered Nurse (RN) – Intermediate Care Additional Requirements:
Work schedule: 3 12-hour shifts (Monday – Friday {including some weekends} nights, 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate’s degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date. Experience: Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting. Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.**Previous experience in: Intermediate Care, ED, PCU, PACU and Cardiac Telemetry strongly preferred.**
