GENERAL SUMMARY

Integrate collaborative care planning for individual patients and implement nursing standards in the processes of care.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*
General Clinical Practice
* Utilizes the nursing process in caring for all patients, to include: assessing symptoms, planning interventions, implementing treatment plans, evaluating responses to interventions, and revising plan based on overall effectiveness.
* Demonstrates the skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the population served.
* Adheres to the established practice standards and procedures at New London Hospital, in the administration of all medications and in-patient care activities.
* Documents care provided using hospital standards and appropriate nursing notes
* Provides education to patients and families based on assessment of learning needs.
* Participates in interdisciplinary discharge planning.
* Ensures patient environment is safe and free from hazards.
* Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
* Assists in the orientation of new employees to the Medical/Surgical Unit.
* Participates in required hospital and/or unit competencies
* Attends staff meetings as required by Clinical Manager

* 1 year of relevant clinical practice
* Critical thinking skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines in a professional manner

* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
* Current NH state license.
* New Staff must have current ACLS Certification prior to hire or obtain ACLS certification within 3 months of hire date
