The staff registered nurse in the Medical- Surgical and Sub-Acute Care Unit is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation of all aspects of care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient on the Medical-Surgical and Sub-Acute Care Units. 

The RN

Assesses each patient and establishes and coordinates a written plan of care consistent with the patient’s special needs and significant social and environmental relationships

Coordinates patient care activities with other nursing staff and ancillary services.

Maintains the established standards of nursing practice based on a thorough knowledge of the interrelatedness of body systems and the dynamic nature of the life process.

Collaborates with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care and to support families within the units.

Promotes the institution’s philosophy, mission and values during all interactions with patients, families, staff and others.

Maintains current knowledge of health care issues and nursing practice for the areas which he / she is responsible.

Special Demands 

Ability to prioritize care and deal with multiple demands or urgent situations in a timely manner.

Ability to use technological equipment including but not limited to IV pumps, PCA Pumps, and other medical devices.

Algebraic math skills are required to calculate drug dosages and infusion rates of certain drugs.

Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and deal effectively with internal and external customers

Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.

Qualifications - Minimum

 Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing. Current licensure from the state of Ohio as an RN.

Prior medical /surgical and pediatric experience is preferred.

Basic American Heart Life Support Course completion

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course completion

Computer skill and basic knowledge of the Windows environment, order management, and patient care information.

Completion of all competencies required by the Unit Director

Full Time - 36 hours weekly

Shift - 7a-7p
