Recent graduate from an accredited nursing program who has successfully completed all requirements to obtain a nursing license; orRecent graduate from an accredited nursing program who has been unable to take the NCLEX examination due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in an area where the licensing exceptions have been made; orRN student enrolled in the final semester of an accredited nursing program; orRN student enrolled in an accredited nursing program who has completed at least their first round of clinicals and are prepared to begin working in a nursing support role.

Registered Nurse (RN) – New Grad - Rappahannock General Hospital

Job Summary:

The Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient statusProviding care to patients with medical and surgical diagnosesImplementing clinical nursing interventionsHaving a highly diverse medical skillsetDeveloping and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomesEnsuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions:

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care teamCollect vital signs, administer IV medications, understand charting and assess patient conditionAbility to perform at a higher patient-to-nurse ratioEvaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomesAdminister medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Mercy Health policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned

Education:

Diploma of Nursing or Associate of Nursing from an accredited nursing programBachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred)

Work Experience:

Previous RN experience on a similar nursing unit or Long-Term Care setting

Required Licensing & Certifications:

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care)
