Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU – PRN, Nights

Work location: Texas Health Southwest, 6100 Harris Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76132

Work hours: PRN/per diem, Night shift, Minimum requirement: 3 shifts per 6-week schedule, 1 weekend shift and 1 major/1 minor holiday required

Department Highlights

36 bed PCU Department; Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:4 depending on acuity Patient population: intermediate /telemetry level of care for the post-acute stroke, general medical, endocrine GI/renal patient population MAGNET facility Level III Trauma Center  Primary Stroke center Stroke designated unit Enjoy self-scheduling to help with work/life balance. Here’s what you need

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly ACLS – within 90 days of hire CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 60 days of hire NIHSS – within 90 days of hire 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required PCU experience preferred

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will 

demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs. The professional nurse demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

What You Will Do 

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• assesses the patient
• plans the care of the patient
• intervenes as appropriate
• evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
