Job Description
**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Trauma Program Manager manages and coordinates the trauma program and system elements in conjunction with the Trauma Medical Director to ensure an organized multidisciplinary team approach to quality care of the trauma patient. This position is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care, consultation, leadership, education and research. These functions are uniquely implemented within the area of expertise and are based on the needs of the system. The position is responsible for promoting quality patient outcomes while demonstrating knowledge of case management, clinical competencies, community resources, resource utilization and legal ethical issues.
**Essential Job Functions**
1. Leads preparation for the American College of Surgeons verification visit and maintains standards on an on-going basis in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director.
2. Collaborates with other members of the hospital health team in order to facilitate a multidisciplinary performance improvement of the care of the trauma patient. Actively leads the Trauma Systems Operational Committee.
3. Identifies opportunities to improve patient care by initiating changes to practice standards and processes to solve problems and needs identified.
4. Assists in the development and monitoring of evidence-based practice management guidelines.
5. Is active as a TNCC Instructor providing nursing education across the region.
6. Acts as a resource to promote optimal trauma care.
7. Assesses, develops and implements education based on ED staff needs and professional development opportunities.
8. Participates in unit and organizational shared governance, evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research initiatives.
9. Leads educational and quality improvement efforts throughout the organization.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

**Employment Qualifications**
Required Minimum Education: 4 year Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Preferred Education: Graduate Degree (Masters) in Nursing (preferred), Business, Leadership
Licensing/Certification Required: Active RN License
Licensing/Certification Preferred: Nursing Certification required at hire or obtained within 1 year of hire
Minimum Qualifications: 5 years nursing experience
Other Required knowledge, skills and abilities: TNCC Instructor required within 12 months of hire
Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: TCRN Preferred
