Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) is an exciting and fast-paced environment with dynamic team that focuses on excellence in patient care, exceptional teamwork, and outstanding culture of respect for all team members. Our nurses are driven and provide knowledgeable and caring patient care while maintaining a positive and supportive work environment and practicing the most effective and safest care possible.
The IMCU is a 20 bed acute care unit with the goal to provide transition level care to patients who while stable, still require a high degree of support and monitoring. The IMCU patient population consists of patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including but not limited to respiratory disorders, wide variety of medical disorders, and Ventilator/Tracheostomy management, chronic and advanced heart failure, acute heart failure exacerbation requiring Bipap/highflow/high level diuresis, advanced pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, and other diseases/health conditions.
Key characteristics of our unit include: entirely private patient care rooms. 1:3/4 nurse to patient ratios for both day and night shift. Assignments are based on patient acuity and staff skill level, Team approach with management team consisting of clinical director, unit supervisors, and clinical educators and mentors providing consistent training and education and ensuring robust support.

Schedule: Full-time, Days (3 – 12 hour shifts)

Requirements: Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting
Previous Charge Nurse, Unit Supervisor experience strongly preferred
Minimum Education Requirement: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must be within 1 year of completing their BSN.
Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start. Specialty certification (as required by unit) within 1 year from date of hire. Completion of revised Charge Nurse Workshop within the first 90-days of employment.
