Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor L&D Unit -Full Time Days

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor to join the L&D Unit!

This position is eligible for a competitive Sign-On Bonus. Candidates who are relocating 50 miles or further are also eligible for relocation assistance.
 

Schedule: Full Time Days- 3x12 hour shifts per week

Inova Alexandria Labor and Delivery is a 13-bed unit, complemented by 3 operating suites, 4 PACU beds, and 4 Clinical Decision beds. Approximately, 3,600 deliveries take place each year, including deliveries for high-risk obstetric patients. In our Clinical Decision Unit (Labor and Delivery Triage), we can care for as many as 450 patients a month. The L&D Unit delivers approximately 10 to 15 babies each day.
Nurse to Patient Ratios:
2:1 during early stages of labor
1:1 once patient is active and begins pushing
1:1 for all C-sections, epidural placements, TOLAC and fetal demises.
1:1 or up to 3:1 for antepartum patients, depending on level of acuity.


The RN Unit Supervisor on the Labor and Delivery Unit:

Role Responsibilities
•    Leads unit initiatives and trainings
•    Must attend all department meetings and lead some meetings 
•    Attends RN Unit Supervisor meetings two times per month 
•    Serves as Charge on the unit
•    Completes patient rounds with unit leadership
•    Provide service recovery as needed 
•    Leads daily team huddles

Required Experience

At least one year of Registered Nurse clinical experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of labor and delivery experience
Experience as a Charge RN
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Minimum Education Requirement
Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing OR Associate Degree RNs that are within one year of completing their BSN.

Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement
o    Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
o    Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start
o    Specialty certification (as required by the unit) within one year of hire.
o    Completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within the first 90 days of employment

o    Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others
o    Values team collaboration
o    Proficient computer skills required
