Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access Team

Inova Alexandria Hospital – IV Therapy is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access Team to join the team. Full-time, 9-hour dayshifts, 4 days per week. No holidays or weekends. Start and end times & days during the week may vary.

Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Access Team Job Responsibilities:

Tailors and prioritizes caring practice to individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care and determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems Monitors the EKG, hemodynamic variances, and other physiologic data during the procedure Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on a patient presentation during the procedure and maintains proper sterile technique throughout the procedure Updates primary RN with the ability to use line, type of line placed, and any special considerations (eg. gauze dressing or clotting dressing used) Immediately recognizes and responds to adverse clinical situations and directs others to assist in a favorable patient outcome Documents entire procedure, including complications, equipment used, medications administered as part of the patient's permanent record Serves as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to health care team members in educating on infection control, care and maintenance of the inserted device, and clinical resource in troubleshooting May perform additional duties as assigned

Additional Requirements:

Work schedule: Full-time, 9-hour dayshifts, 4 days per week. No holidays or weekends. Start and end times & days during the week may vary. Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree. If RN has an Associate's Degree, within 2 years of date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date. Experience: Experience assessing and placing peripheral access including Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), Midline Catheters, and Peripheral IV's Certifications: BLS from the American Heart Association; Vascular Access-Board Certified within 12 months of hire (VA-BC 1 year after completion of orientation). Other: Must be comfortable with educating others on proper IV protocols
