Registered Nurse Senior Behavioral Health Unit, Full Time Night Weekends

Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Unit is a 15-bed inpatient psychiatric unit that specializes in treating elderly patients with mental illness. Diagnoses include depression, anxiety, suicide attempts, bipolar and schizophrenia. You will work directly with a hands-on care team that includes registered nurses and mental health technicians, and the extended care team includes a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, social worker, and recreational therapist.

Essential Functions

The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse provides individualized psychiatric nursing care in a professional, competent, efficient, safe, compassionate, and caring mannerThe RN assesses the patients’ needs, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of patient careThis position carries out these responsibilities independently with the guidance of accepted nursing and department practice as well as directed by medical staff. This position provides the knowledge and skills to meet physician, patient, staff, and/or WRMC needs and performs in accordance with WRMC standards and policiesThe Registered Nurse directs the nursing care activities of paraprofessionals or other nursing team members and provides nursing leadershipThe RN is responsible for assuring patient safety at all times and facilitates effective communication with patients, support personnel and member of the healthcare team. This position provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice

Education

Associate’s degree in Nursing RequiredBachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Certificate/License

Currently licensed by the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing as a Registered NurseBasic Life Support (BLS) required
