Responsibilities

Assesses and treats patients referred for Occupational Therapy by physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, dentists, and advanced registered nurse practitioners licensed in the State of Florida. Organizes and conducts Occupational Therapy programs to restore function, maximize independence, reduce pain, and prevent or correct disability following disease, injury, or illness.



Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. 

Outpatient Experience Required:

One year of experience in outpatient Neurology, Orthopedics, Bariatric lifestyle management, and/or Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, is preferred. Certification to perform ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities is preferred. 

Competency:

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification is required within the first 90 days of hire, thereafter an annual BLS refresher will be required. Attends all regulatory body mandated educational programs, annually. Demonstrates an appropriate and accurate evaluation or treatment procedure. Demonstrates basic functional knowledge of dictation and computerized system for patient medical record documentation. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development required for effective communication and care of child, adolescent, adult and older adult. 

Job Knowledge: Basic computer skills are preferred. 

Additional Considerations : Frequent stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting is required when moving patients and/or equipment during treatment. Due to the nature of the work, good interpersonal skills and sensitivity are necessary. Florida State licensure to practice Occupational Therapy.
