Summary of Job Duties:"This is a Part Time position"
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, trauma-informed care to the sexual assault victims. This will include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate resources (such as shelter, medical and psychological follow-up, and advocacy support), and participation in legal proceedings. The SANE is expected to follow protocols established by the Program Director and/or management of the Digital Health Sexual Assault Assessment Program. The SANE may participate in providing educational opportunities related to sexual assault care topics. The SANE will agree to the certain amount of call days or hours per month set by the program director.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Associates of Nursing, RN plus three years of experience as a registered nurse

Education, special or professional: Computer skills, evidence collection, prophylaxis treatment for STI, therapeutic communications. Completed 40 or 64 hours Sexual Assault Nurse Examination didactic

History of caring for victims of sexual assault.

Physical Requirements: Be able to sit at a desk for longer periods of time during an exam. Be able to push a telemedicine cart to do live trainings as needed. Will require minimal walking and standing.

Licenses, certificates, or registration: SANE-A

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with physicians for coordination of care and discharge planning.

Collects data to assist development and revision of policy, procedures and protocols regarding specialty care.

Educates staff in prevention and treatment, assessment, intervention, and evaluation. Assists staff to maintain current knowledge and competence in area of care.

Follows protocols and treatment plans to evaluate and treat a variety of issues in the clinical setting. Reviews patient care and makes recommendations based on evidence-based practice.

Manages and evaluates department stock items. Monitors proper utilization of Specialty Beds; handles specialty items ordered by physicians.

Delivers and reviews specialty nursing care for patients.

Provides independent consultation for patients to assist surgeons and physicians in diagnosis and treatment.

Performs other duties as requested.
