Job DescriptionReports to the Clinical Services Manager, Laboratory Medicine.
Accountabilities:
Comprehensive working knowledge of the theory, methodologies, and procedures in Clinical BiochemistrySupervise staff, providing guidance and feedback to ensure high performanceLead staff, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with objectivesCollaborate with management to plan and coordinate work within the modalityManage modality workflows, addressing barriers and optimizing resourcesEnsure quality and safety standards are met and implement improvementsAnalyze and report on operational data, identifying areas for improvementEnsure safe, efficient modality operations and address performance issuesManage and monitor departmental budget, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with goalsManage staff schedules and payroll with the staffing team, ensuring accuracyContribute to employee performance reviews with constructive feedbackReview and update policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliancePlan for new programs, testing needs, and space requirementsEnsure regulatory compliance through equipment checks and inventory managementParticipate in meetings, presenting modality-specific insightsParticipate in hospital committees or external meetingsTravel between sites as requiredQualificationsGraduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program or equivalent education (CSMLS)Must be registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)Minimum six years experience as a laboratory technologist requiredExperience with hospital information systems, laboratory information systems and Paradigm document control software requiredExcellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills requiredDemonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor and coach staff; strong conflict resolution skills preferredSupervisory experience in a hospital environment preferredManagement and supervisory courses an assetWorking knowledge of departmental budgets and schedules an assetProven skills and competence in departmental policies, processes and proceduresExperience in developing policies, processes and procedures, duties and responsibilitiesExperience coordinating workflow and prioritizing in a fast paced environmentDemonstrate excellence in organization and time management skills to meet deadlinesDemonstrate mature judgment and initiative and ability to effectively problem solveStrong ability to multitask, be assertive, flexible and responsive to conflicting prioritiesMust possess strong motivation skills as well as being self-motivatedAbility to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team environmentExcellent computer knowledge and skillsExcellent attendance and punctuality recordMust demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and CollaborationAbility to work and travel between all hospital sitesAdditional InformationHours: Currently Dyas, Monday to Friday - must be available to attend Osler sites after hours and during emergencies (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
SALARY:
Minimum: $44.68 per hour
Maximum: $57.33 per hour
