Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT

Position: Full-timeQualification: Veterinary Technician DiplomaLocation: Oakville, Ontario

The Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital, along with the Guelph Veterinary Surgery Services, are currently welcoming a dedicated full-time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our established network of highly skilled professionals. Our small animal surgical team(s) have excellent knowledge to share with you and will train you on our up-to-date surgical and diagnostic equipment. While previous experience in a Veterinary Hospital is an asset, our RVTs are given the necessary tools and resources to help you succeed in this role. Interested candidates should keep in mind that both MOVH & GVSS are multi-specialty hospitals and there are many opportunities for advanced learning. Additional qualifications and attributes you must embrace to be successful in this role;

Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT or eligible to register 

Confident team player who can also work independently when required

Ability to perform a variety of clinical procedures including (not limited to): Venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, in house lab work, patient assessment,  anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, assistance and patient recovery 

Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate and detailed patient files

Willing to further enhance technical skills and expertise including performing advanced anesthesia, CRI delivery and more. 

Ability to thrive in a steady and often fast paced environment

Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment

Exceptional interpersonal skills and a positive attitude in working with your colleagues and pet parents

Strong ability to problem-solve

Flexibility and willingness to travel may be required as shifts may be scheduled between the two hospitals.

Our Surgery RVTs have the opportunity to work with and learn from other Surgery RVTs, ACAs as well as our board-certified Veterinary Surgeons, Anesthesiologists and other specialists. Schedule: This full-time position may include travel and will include some Saturdays.
