The Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre is an established, cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary facility located in the heart of metro Vancouver. Our Diagnostic Imaging service is excited to welcome a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT to join our expanding team.
You will play a key role in supporting our newly established service and have the opportunity to fully utilize your skills. Our RVTs are provided with the tools and resources needed to thrive while exploring a variety of passions within our state-of-the-art hospital. You will gain valuable experience through exposure to a wide range of specialty cases, with ample opportunities for continued learning and growth. This role will include:
Preparing patients for ultrasound and safely restrain patients for procedures
Place intravenous catheters & monitor patients during anesthesia or while sedated
Experience in performing phlebotomy/venipuncture
Preparing slides for cytology & completing necessary lab-work submissions accurately
Proficiently perform digital radiographs. Willingness to learn CT/MRI procedures.
Acts as a liaison between specialty departments requiring diagnostic imaging services
General Requirements:
Registered Veterinary Technologist certified in Diagnostic Imaging (VTS-DI) or an RVT with 2 years of experience and a keen interest in diagnostic imaging modalities.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team
The ability to remain calm and adaptable under pressure, effectively managing stress while maintaining productivity and focus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to carry out assignments independently
Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning
High aptitude for digital equipment & veterinary software programs
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. 8 am-6 pm. (30hrs per week), including occasional call-ins out of regular hours as needed.
Compensation: $27.00 to $38.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
