Job Summary\:

Responsible for providing exceptional care and taking ownership of their role here at LRH. The Registration Clerk will pay close attention to detail, be organized, kind, and always treat our patients and their families with respect and compassion.

Essential Functions

· Performs receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with direct and scheduled patient admissions.

· Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.

· Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.

· Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.

· Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.

· Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.

· Must complete all education assigned and required for the position including classroom and on-line courses.

• Critical thinking and decisive judgement while working in a stressful environment

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Basic computer knowledge

• Excellent customer service

• Able to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function in stressful situations.

• Ability to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments

• Must have good and regular attendance

• Must read, write, and speak fluent English

• Performs other related duties as assigned

Education\: High School diploma or GED required. Basic Life Support (BLS) or able to obtain within 6 months of employment.
