Southeast. Always the right career direction. Job Description Summary Take patients to testing department or patient rooms either by walking them or by wheelchair. All safety and transport guidelines should be used during the transport process. Refer to the safety manual Transport safety section for detail instruction. Ensure proper patient identification and location. The transport individual should call and notify the unit of patient arrival to a room by utilizing the nurse call button or speaking to the specific department and handing off the paperwork. The transport individual should assist the patient, if patient condition/status allows, into the bed. Bed controls, phone usage, thermostat, layout of floor and room should be described and shown to the patient and/or family members. The transport individual should introduce the patient to the new caregiver. Transport correspondence and internal information to the mailroom. Assist with obtaining supplies. Assist with answering phone lines and providing customers with any additional information. Ensure wheelchairs are accessible, clean and working appropriately. Report any malfunctioning or damaged wheelchair for repair. Maintain audit log of transport times. Job Description QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
