Job Summary
Provide patient registration, charge entry, discharge, point of service (POS) collections, and other related services for the assigned location.
Responsibilities
1. Greet and register patients. Explain payment policy and insurance coverage prior to patient registration, obtaining insurance and demographic information. Seek the assistance of medical personnel when patients are in immediate distress and refer all questions of a medical nature to medical personnel.
2. Responsible for discharging patients from the facility, documenting, entering and tabulating all charges and payments and maintaining accurate medical record files and financial data on discharged patients complying with POS collection policy.
3. Make and verify appointments, send out new patient packets, maintain accuracy of schedule (cancellations, no-shows, appropriate identification of appointment type), applicable.
4. Process a daily summary of payments, charges, balances, and claim edits.
5. Responsible for handling all telephone calls to the facility, answering questions and furnishing information when possible and forwarding calls as applicable or necessary.
6. Assist clinical personnel with clerical work and other duties relating to the preparation of the patient.
7. Responsible for making deposits for daily transactions.
8. Responsible for maintaining medical records and filing of such.
9. Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory and stocking office with supplies etc. needed for smoother office operation.
10. Open mail and route to appropriate personnel.
11. Process all medical record requests with appropriate documentation and completion.
12. Assist in processing of edit reports from patient management system.
13. Cross train across various practices and/or departments as needed and determined by management.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
