Location New Westminster Campus Salary Range Salary Range: $71,846 – $115,129 per annum. Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The successful candidate will: Give individual lessons and group studio classes to students in the department’s credential programs; Plan, organize, and manage learning activities and maintain quality learner-centered instruction; Assess and evaluate students’ progress and achievement; Participate in the student admission process, including hearing auditions and conducting interviews; Participate in curriculum development and maintain currency of piano courses; Work with the music technician to maintain the piano lab and oversee keyboard maintenance; Engage in outreach and student recruitment; Attend meetings, share in departmental responsibilities, and participate in committee work; and Maintain currency in the field through professional development activity.


To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need:  A minimum of a Master’s degree in Music (Doctoral preferred); A strong performance profile and excellent musicianship; A demonstrated ability to teach across a variety of musical styles; Extensive knowledge of piano repertoire and pedagogy; A record of successful teaching and recruitment at the post-secondary level; Experience with curriculum development and revision an asset; A demonstrated ability to work with a population of diverse adult learners; A strong commitment to maintaining and growing enrolment; A commitment to Department and College service; Excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative and creativity, effective interpersonal skills, and self-directedness; and Evidence of ongoing professional development. Additional Information The Music Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to hire a regular probationary faculty member to teach individual piano lessons and class piano. In addition, keyboard accompanying and chamber ensemble may be available. For the 2025-2026 academic year, a 100% workload is available. Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.
