National Grid is hiring a Regulatory Compliance Manager, Mechanical Engineering in Hicksville, NY.

Job Purpose

Manage Station regulatory and compliance efforts to ensure: 
    •    the minimization of corporate liability exposure regarding environmental/regulatory issues,
    •    the protection of the surrounding environments (terrestrial/aquatic/atmospheric),
    •    the establishment and maintenance of a safe workplace.
The Regulatory Compliance Manager administers all regulatory programs established to meet Corporate Policies related to compliance with regulatory doctrines affecting the operation of their assigned facility. This administration includes: 
    •    the routine review of the established programs, 
    •    revisions to established programs as necessary to meet changing conditions and/or regulations, 
    •    documentation and record keeping of program related activities, the assurance of personnel training qualifications as required, 
    •    the performance of site inspections for conditions affecting safety and/or environmental concerns, 
    •    the provision of data necessary for required reporting, 
    •    the overall continued "self-assessment" of the station's compliance with these regulatory programs,
    •    the "matrix management" of activities necessary to progress and ensure compliance with these regulations,
    •    the establishment of new programs to meet evolving requirements.undefined

Key Accountabilities

•    Responsible to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, County and Town Permits.
•    Responsible for SPDES Compliance
•    Responsible for MPFL/CBS (Major Petroleum Facility License/Chemical Bulk Storage) Compliance
•    Responsible for Hazardous/Non-Hazardous Waste storage, disposal and record keeping
•    Responsible for OPA 90 Compliance (Oil Spill Response/Drills)
•    Responsible for site Emergency Plan and Environmental Compliance procedure review updates
•    Responsible to Administer Tuesday Morning Safety Brief and monthly Safety Committee meetings
•    Responsible to administer Contractor Safety requirements
•    Responsible for 33 CFR 105 (MARSEC Security Requirements).
•    Act as Site Facility Security Officer
•    Responsible for site NERC CIP Security Requirements
•    Responsible for the Operation of the site Waste Water Treatment Facility
•    Must be available for immediate consultations by colleagues’ beyond normal work hours
•    On a rotating basis, acts as a Division Standby Supervisor who responds to after hours request for maintenance assistance.

Qualifications

•    A bachelor’s degree in engineering with a Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering major is preferred. In the absence of a degree in Engineering, seven to ten years of power plant experience in multiple positions and locations is required
•    A strong working knowledge of environmental regulations is preferred
•    The incumbent will act as the company's spokesperson with regulatory agencies. As such, excellent interpersonal and managerial skills are required
•    The incumbent must have proven ability to act independently
•    Supervisory experience is desirable
•    Knowledge and a good working understanding is required in the areas of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics

Salary

$141,000 - $166,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
