Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose

Provides patient care services for all patient populations based on the Plan of Care under the direct supervision of the Licensed Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist.  Assists the licensed clinician in the assessment of individual patient needs; incorporates age-specific characteristics in communication with patients; assists in the provision of individualized care relevant to patient needs; and recognition, monitoring, and provision of interventions as appropriate. 

Essential Key Job Responsibilities Tech is responsible for transportation and transfers of patients to, from, and within the department. Will initiate, prepare, and provide routine treatment, such as hydrotherapy, hot and cold packs, ultrasound and paraffin bath, upon the direct request of the physical therapist or physical therapy assistant. Reports any unfavorable responses to exercise or equipment to the therapist. Responsible for positioning of the patient and bringing equipment to the treatment area. Will perform the following housekeeping tasks: change linens on plinth when appropriate; clean treatment machines; and do other cleaning as required to keep department neat and orderly. May inventory and requisition supplies and equipment. Assist patients to put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings as instructed. Monitor and assist patients with exercises and functional activities under direction of professional staff. Performs other duties including clerical work, as required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

High school diploma or equivalent. 

Required Licensure and Certifications

BLS-CPR

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

Must possess demonstrated communication skills, excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal effectively with multi-disciplinary team members, patients, patient’s family members and physicians.
