Summary:

The Rehab Technician assists the licensed staff member in designated duties related to patient care. Also performs supportive functions such as transporting patients, activities related to patient self care, cleaning equipment, checking inventory, etc.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.Training through job orientation

 

License or Certification Requirements:

None

 

 

Responsibilities:

Abides by all regulatory standards by completing assigned checklists in a timely manner.Applies and removes therapeutic modalities as directed by and under the supervision of licensed staff.Assists licensed staff members with therapeutic and social dining.Assists the licensed staff in patient care duties.Communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team and with persons served.Keeps treatment areas clean and tidy before, during and after patient care times.Maintains equipment: assigns wheelchairs and walkers appropriately to patients, maintains equipment maintenance log, on a daily basis ensures equipment is cleaned and appropriate for patient use, and removes equipment from services as appropriate for maintenance and repair.Participates in quality improvement efforts.Performs supportive functions such as cleaning equipment, checking inventory and restocking equipment/suppliesSupports front desk and scheduling activity when needed.Transports patients to and from rehab services department and patient care unit, or other locations as needed.Utilize therapeutic equipment for patient care as instructed by licensed staff member.

Blood and Body Fluids:Overall, there is a minimal risk of exposure to blood and body fluid. Potential risk would be in the event of patient incontinence and open wounds treated in hydrotherapy. There is also some potential for risk in equipment failure such as a catheter or IV breaking.
