Reinsurance Specialist

The Opportunity

You will be accountable for accurate and timely development, production and analysis of reinsurance results and administration. Collaboration with various Manulife business operations across the globe as well as with our reinsurance partners is a key element of this position. Reinsurance is critical to Manulife’s business and this position will contribute to optimizing its use in Asia.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for treaty administration using Asia’s regional reinsurance system, including new product implementation and management reporting

Assist with the implementation of system solutions aimed at operational efficiency

Responsible for project related system development, including testing support to ensure accuracy

Lead monthly production of reinsurance treaty settlements and manage reporting to business units and reinsurance counterparties

Support the production and analysis of monthly reinsurance results, including communication of results to senior management

Collaborate with the team to track operational issues and participate in discussions to derive solutions

Support strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing capital and balancing risk and financial outcomes

Accurate and timely production of monthly reinsurance settlements

Participation in group discussions related to improving operational efficiency

Collaborate with the team as well as internal and external business partners to resolve any challenges

Provide support to other members of the team

Participate in strategic discussions to optimize the use of reinsurance

Lead or participate in team update meetings

Seek internal and external educational opportunities

Adhere to Manulife’s key values

Required Qualifications:

University degree or experience in IT or financial related role

2 to 4 years of experience in insurance or reinsurance

Ability to manage time effectively to achieve high quality results under tight deadlines

Demonstrated project management skills

Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with various internal and external business partners

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to assess risks as well as to identify opportunities for improved efficiency

Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external business partners
