Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) Support Specialist
CTG is seeking to fill a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) Support Specialist opening for our client in Buffalo, NY. **Location:** Buffalo, NY **Duration:** 18 months **Overview:** The RDBMS Support Specialist will provide critical relational database management system (RDBMS) support for applications within the assigned department. This role involves collaborating with application teams, team leads, and database administrators to design and specify RDBMS solutions that enhance existing applications or support new application development. You will serve as a principal RDBMS solution designer and subject matter expert (SME) for related initiatives, regulatory requirements, and system changes within the Application Database Services (ADBS) team. **Primary Responsibilities:** + Provide technical leadership in database analysis, design, and development. + Develop and oversee plans for database implementation, integration, archiving, and recovery. + Lead and manage small to large-scale project plans related to assigned applications. + Contribute to technical projects requiring advanced industry knowledge. + Maintain functional understanding of supported applications and the associated business environment. + Recommend database designs based on business requirements and technology roadmaps. + Evaluate complex interrelationships among RDBMS, interfacing applications, and operating systems. + Lead the identification and implementation of new uses of database technologies to meet business objectives. + Prepare technical specifications and update systems, standards, and documentation. + Assist with disaster recovery exercises and remediate issues. + Build strong client relationships by addressing their needs and safeguarding their business. + Identify and implement performance and effectiveness enhancements. + Participate in the ADBS Center of Excellence and contribute to departmental goals. + Ensure adherence to risk and regulatory standards. **Scope of Responsibilities:** This position works under the supervision of a Technology Manager and is responsible for maintaining strong technical expertise in RDBMS. The role includes contributions to solution design, resource allocation, and departmental strategies. You will resolve technical issues, assist in system development, and mentor less experienced personnel. Regular interactions with application teams, vendors, and leadership will be required. **Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:** + The position may involve leading small teams or projects. + Provide mentoring and training to junior team members. + Serve as a technical representative on committees and ad-hoc projects. **Education and Experience Required:** + Associate's degree and 6 years of RDBMS experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years of higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 6 years of RDBMS experience. + Proficiency in RDBMS tools and functions (SQL/Oracle). + Experience with automation tools (IaC, Terraform, Ansible). + Experience with CI/CD processes. + Prior experience in database analysis, design, and troubleshooting for multiple projects. + Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. + Excellent organizational, decision-making, and presentation skills. **Education and Experience Preferred:** + Bachelor's degree. + Minimum of 3 years of experience with banking applications and RDBMS. + Familiarity with banking RDBMS support and CAPPM experience. + Mastery of RDBMS tools, skills, and operating systems. + Ability to mentor and lead RDBMS project analysis, development, and troubleshooting efforts. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
