Relationship Manager, Global Fund Services

Responsible for managing client relationships and supporting overall client service and delivery across all applicable disciplines (Custody, Fund Accounting and Administration, Transfer Agency) for Global Fund Services (GFS) clients.  Facilitates efforts of the service team and other internal stakeholders, coordinating resources to ensure timely service delivery and issue-resolution, and effectively communicating client concerns/needs to internal partners.  Identifies opportunities to add value to the relationship and generates additional revenue by cross-selling products and services.

Acts as the main client contact representing all applicable product disciplines and provides for escalation on client queries and issue resolution. 

Ensures overall client satisfaction by facilitating efforts of service team, coordinates and executes relationship governance structure to ensure effective communication with clients and Northern Trust partners.

Review, approve and ensure timely publication of monthly reporting to consultants/clients including calculating KPI levels.

Consistently displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, consulting with the rest of the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.

Assist Client Service Managers with overall project planning for key clients, inclusive of ensuring all relevant internal and external parties are aware of ongoing projects, meeting their respective deliverables and keeping the client informed of progress towards project completion.

Acts as a centralized technical resource and subject matter expert for various tasks associated with client/account and product/service changes.

Develops complete understanding of client’s business, strategic objectives, goals, market challenges, and aligns to Northern Trust’s business / product strategy.

Cultivates strong working relationships with client contacts.  Demonstrates ability to add value with consultative approach by anticipating client needs and possible solutions and partnering with client to implement.

Educates client on industry trends, emerging issues, and regulatory / tax changes, while highlighting Northern Trust products and services, thought leadership, and solutions.

Cross-sells Northern Trust products / services and participates in development of solutions to meet client needs, coordinates presentations, introduces Northern Trust experts when appropriate, closes the sale, and ensures smooth delivery of new services.

Manages client profitability, understands competitive environment, develops pricing strategies, and works with team to enhance profitability.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

Required 7-10 years of experience in financial services, preferably in asset management or asset servicing.

Knowledge of trust or asset management and accounting usually acquired through related work experience is required to manage client relationships.

Knowledge of general finance and portfolio management concepts usually acquired through formal education or experience is needed to consult on client needs.

Skills in negotiation, delegating, leadership, and client service.

Salary Range:

$83,100 - 141,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
