This position offers the opportunity to work fully remote within the United States (except for Alaska and/or Hawaii). Team members who choose virtual / remote work should have an adequate space to serve as their home office, and must be able to work a schedule within U.S. Central Standard Time core business hours. This individual will be expected to come onsite to one of our St. Louis, MO campuses at minimum twice per year for team and department meetings. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities

As a Release Manager 1, you will be responsible for the planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring activities that support releasing Rental Operations Solution to Production. Responsibilities also include supporting planned maintenance of infrastructure components. The Rental Operations team is responsible for the ongoing support, defect analysis, and outage monitoring of home-grown rental systems.  These rental systems directly impact the overall rental customer experience in North America and Europe.  The rental area includes existing applications, as well as a suite of new applications under development and currently being implemented.  You will support a broad range of solutions including Android or React web based mobile solutions that leverage a services based architecture against Oracle databases hosted in either vendor cloud environments or in company data centers.  This team plays an important role in supporting business critical rental solutions and collaborating with business help desk and IT teams to identify, triage and remediate any issues. As a Release Manager 1, you will collaborate with others to define and develop detailed Orchestration plans for the release. You will conduct interim review of the plan and coordinate post-release health checks of the solutions. You are encouraged to identify opportunities to improve current processes, collaborating with various teams and management to streamline or automate manual tasks. You will work with teams to identify and document issues and risks, recommend solutions, and work with senior management to implement solutions. Although we strongly support a healthy work-life balance this position will require a flexible work schedule.  Many of our release and maintenance events occur in the evening and on weekends.

 

You will focus on Release for Rental Operation Systems products which include application releases and infrastructure maintenance. Additional responsibilities may include the following: 

 

Schedule and facilitate the orchestration planning of maintenance and release changes for application development teams.Provide timely, accurate communication to IT and Business stakeholders related to status updates, system availability, and completion notifications activities we support.Demonstrate experience in problem solving, including analyzing symptoms and causes, identifying and defining the problem to be solved, collecting data, establishing the facts, drawing valid conclusions and developing solutions.Excellent at building and maintaining relationships across Information Technology teams.Demonstrate customer service support focus to deliver the highest, most consistent level of customer service.Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities.Collaborate with IT teams to schedule application releases and maintenance changes for production, including workplans and timelines. Create and maintain build deployment and maintenance schedules for the test environments.  Submit work requests to teams involved in deployment and maintenance tasks.Anticipate issues and identify risks for a release or maintenance event, including dependency, resource, and scheduling conflicts; recommend solutions and work with management across IT teams to implement them.Organize and coordinate changes across IT teams to identify scope or schedule conflicts that could impact the success of release and maintenance changesTrack the key milestones of the release and maintenance schedule through the development and deployment lifecycle. Monitor and report on status, health and risks.Collaborate with IT teams to define and promote release and maintenance processes.Define performance metrics for reporting the quality of releases and maintenance activities.Collaborate with various IT teams to evaluate the quality of release and maintenance activities to identify and implement process improvements, including automation.Support release deployment and infrastructure maintenance calls after hours.

Qualifications

Required:

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred2+ years of Release Management experienceGood knowledge of software development lifecycles including waterfall and agile.Good knowledge of release and support management including application release and infrastructure maintenance practices.Good knowledge of quality metrics and tracking.Good knowledge of resource management and tracking.Experience in Microsoft Excel, Visio, SharePoint, Atlassian JIRA and Confluence, ServiceNow.Experience in leading application release and infrastructure maintenance process improvements such as deployment automation.
