Release Train Engineer - Corporate Banking Technology (Director)

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $175,000.00 and $227,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

We are seeking a passionate Agilist to join our agile release train (ART) as the Release Train Engineer.  The ideal candidates are able to model and foster agile values, while tackling real-world challenges and turning them into opportunities for growth. They should be empathetic, communicative, and dedicated to fostering a positive team environment. 

Role Objectives

•    Guides and coaches, the Scrum Masters and ART Leadership on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
•    Coaches and guides the ART to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing scaled agile practices, such as PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and ART Syncs.
•    Responsible for establishing Scaled Agile Framework and roles and responsibilities are understood by all train leadership.
Coaches the Scrum Masters in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Agile Release Train.
•    Works with ART Leadership, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
•    Tracks to resolution ART impediments to increase the effectiveness of the application of agile in the organization. 
•    Works with Agile coaches and Scrum Masters to grow the agile capabilities in the ART.
•    Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the Agile Release Train and the organization.
•    Facilitates and supports all SAFe events.
•    Understand risks and controls for highly regulated industry and build them into the ART activities.
•    Supports Release activities as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

•    Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of product or project development experience, or 10 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
•    A Scrum or Agile Certification such as CSM, PSM, or SSM is required.  
•    Advanced agile certifications, such as RTE, Certified Agile Coach, SPC, ASSM, or agile product management are desired.
•    Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques.
•    Expert level experience with Atlassian products, specifically Jira and Confluence 
•    Working knowledge of ServiceNow Portfolio management tool.
•    Understand DevOps principles.
•    Leadership skills that enable the ART to coalesce quickly.
•    Previous experience working as a Release Train Engineer is desired.
