Responsibilities
Eastman recently announced the engineering and construction of a $1.3B molecular recycling facility at its location in Longview, Texas. This facility consists of three distinct operating units, which will begin startup in late 2027 to early 2028.
The TXO Methanolysis Reliability Engineer is a member of the Manufacturing organization and a core contributor to the project team. This role is critical for ensuring asset reliability, maintainability, and readiness throughout the project’s design, construction, and commissioning phases. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, procurement, and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance and develop processes that align with organizational reliability standards.
The Reliability Engineer will complete key deliverables such as conducting an Asset Criticality Assessment, creating function locations in SAP, and optimizing maintenance strategies. This role requires a self-directed professional with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage a diverse project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
FEL3 Phase:
1. Conduct Asset Criticality Assessments to determine equipment criticality rankings.
2. Create function locations for all assets and build them into SAP.
3. Review system designs for maintainability and reliability improvements.
4. Identify and recommend equipment monitoring requirements based on asset criticality.
5. Participate in model reviews and site visits, including occasional travel to Kingsport, TN.
Detailed Engineering Phase:
1. Actively participate in equipment specification, including the review and approval of designs and vendor documentation.
2. Assist Maintenance Representatives with spare parts identification by providing oversight and technical support.
3. Support the development of PM, lubrication, and turbine drive tasks in GE APM and SAP.
4. Collaborate with the Maintenance Representatives to optimize maintenance activities for reliability improvements (e.g., lubrication strategies, PM strategies, etc.).
5. Participate in model reviews and site visits, including occasional travel to Kingsport, TN.
Construction and Commissioning Phase:
1. Identify inspection and test requirements for all assets prior to commissioning to ensure proper installation and functionality.
2. Provide quality assurance support throughout construction and commissioning phases.
3. Assist with functional check-outs and Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
1. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
2. Experience:
a. 5+ years of reliability engineering experience is required.
b. Experience in asset criticality assessments, equipment maintenance optimization, or SAP function location development is a plus.
3. Skills:
a. Highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and priorities independently.
b. Strong technical background in reliability engineering and rotating equipment.
c. Proficient in analyzing technical documents such as vendor drawings, equipment specifications, and maintenance manuals.
d. Knowledge of SAP or similar enterprise maintenance systems.
4. Additional Requirements:
a. Willingness to travel for model reviews, training, and site visits as required.
