This is a full-time, salaried exempt position.
Position Summary:
This position will focus on improvements in equipment reliability by analyzing bad actors and equipment issues through failure analysis and zero-loss methodology. The Reliability Engineer will also be responsible for proactively incorporating reliability into the design and commissioning of new equipment.
Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Works closely with the Maintenance and Facilities Managers and site leaders to develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies, to evaluate and optimize equipment reliability and performance. Investigate and analyze relevant variables to avoid potential impacts on processes and assets. Compile and analyze performance metrics, report on and recommend corrective measures to meet acceptable reliability standards.Utilizes CMMS and other reliability databases to identify bad actors.Support capital projects by incorporating reliability design and maintainability into the design of new equipment and processes.Provides plant engineering with technical support on reliability issues.Participates in engineering activities that improve the reliability of equipment.Lead and coach sites on Root Cause Failure Analysis, Reliability Maintenance, and preventive and predictive maintenance programs.Train employees on the value of maintenance reliability and actions required to increase operational efficiencySupport and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirementsMay perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned Job Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural, Electrical) plus two (2) or more years of experience in a Reliability Engineering role, or five (5) or more years in a Maintenance Engineering role in a continuous manufacturing environment (or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience) is required.Experience working in a Maintenance/Reliability engineering position in the agricultural, food production, or chemical continuous manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.Experience in Vibration, Infrared, Alignment, Ultrasonic, Motor Circuit, and Lubrication analysisBackground working on rotating equipment, seals, piping, pumps, fans, blowers, and material handling equipmentMust possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with employees cross-functionally at all levels of the organizationMust possess effective time-management, planning and prioritization skills.Must be able to work flexible hours to support continuous production (i.e., off hours, weekends, etc.)Familiarity with GMP, FDA, and OSHA regulations is strongly preferredMust have knowledge and experience in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)Ability to understand and align with plant GMP and personnel practice requirementsWorking Conditions:DustChemicals/IrritantsThe scope of the position may require exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to mechanical work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not properly followed.Inside areas:Spring/Summer: Temperatures in some areas of the facility may exceed 100 degreesFall/Winter: Temperatures in the facility may be at or below freezingOutside areas:Spring/Summer: Outside temperature may exceed 100 degrees with potential for high humidity. Potential inclement weather conditions including, but not limited to rain and windFall/Winter: Outside temperatures may reach freezing or below. Potential inclement weather including, freezing rain, sleet, snow and windSome manufacturing processes within the facility have noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift Physical Requirements: Able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis, up to 55 pounds on an occasional basisLifting or carrying of weights over 55 pounds is rare. Employees are required to request assistance in lifting or carrying objects that weigh more than 55 pounds.Able to traverse up to two (2) miles during the course of a workday.Must be willing and able to spend time in plant areas, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting as needed during the course of the work day and move through close spaces to understand and audit processes.Prolonged periods of sitting or standing may also be required.Able to operate equipment to diagnose / detect issues with machinery at different heights. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment.Relocation assistance is available with this position.
