The position:

The incumbent should have completed a minimum of 3 years Mechanical Engineering and be a self-starter with strong time management and computer skills.  The student should also possess strong interpersonal skills along with a willingness to work with others. The successful incumbent must have completed at least one Coop work assignment.  Previous pulp mill or heavy industrial experience would be a definite asset.

 

The Co-op student will also perform the following duties:

Ensure on-going equipment reliability by performing a variety of inspections such as camera inspections, thermography, and vibration analysis. Issue work orders regarding equipment repair and upgrades. Work with Production/Maintenance teams on reliability problems. Work in a team environment to determine root cause failure and corrective action. Maintain department computer databases. Work in all areas of the plant including Fibreline, steam and recovery and chip handling. Specific projects could include: Optimizing operator basic care inspection route (computer data maintenance and work with individuals to review inspection routes) Coordination of lube task information for new assets Work on rationalizing schedules for lube routes This job has the potential of expanding into other areas of maintenance-reliability.

Required skills:

Minimum three years completed in a Mechanical Engineering Program. Strong PC skills required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous Pulpmill experience or other industrial experience an asset.

It is our intention to provide the student with an opportunity to become familiar with the pulp and paper production process and to utilize the theoretical knowledge of engineering principles in a work situation. The student engineer will work independently and as a team member with the opportunity for input from a variety of resources including experienced Professional Engineers, mill operators and Maintenance personnel. The successful applicants will gain practical experience in various aspects of Mechanical Engineering. You will be given a project during your work term for which you will be expected to give a presentation to the management team outlining your project findings / recommendations.

 

The hourly rate for this position is: $54,000.00

The salary range for this position is: $52,500.00-$54,000.00
