Reliability Engineer III, Application Engineering
SCOPE OF ROLE 

The Reliability Engineer III, Applications Engineering will serve as a technical predictive maintenance subject matter expert for Perceptiv customers and Business Development Managers. This will involve translating customer needs, drawings, specifications, and detailed requests into predictive maintenance solutions (hardware, software and services) that meet the customer’s application needs. This role will independently generate technical pre-sales documents, scopes of work, customer facing presentations, and serve as the lead pre-sales Engineer for new Perceptiv business developments. This role will conduct on-site plant visits and virtual customer facing calls to build gather scoping information and build appropriate solutions.  

This employee will support the Product Management and Engineering teams to translate Voice of Customer into new condition monitoring and predictive maintenance offerings in an effort to continuously refine our solutions into unique, attractive offerings that differentiate us from the evolving condition monitoring market. This role will frequently travel to customer sites across industries (i.e. Metals, Mining, Food & Beverage, Intralogistics, Heavy Industry) to discuss customer needs, solution scopes, condition monitoring services with customers, and to support the Perceptiv Sales team. This person will independently handle technical issues that may involve recommending additional Services or Products from Regal Rexnord’s portfolio of brands. Also this employee will be a subject matter expert in the utilization and practical application of vibration and torsional analysis. 

LOCATION/TRAVEL  

This role can be performed remotely within the United States, but it necessitates frequent travel, ranging from 50% to as much as 75% of the time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Serve as a reliability expert to collaborate with Perceptiv Sales Team across a multitude of industries and applications (i.e. Food & Beverage, Intralogistics, Metals, Mining, Heavy Industry) 

Lead creation of technical scoping documents for new condition monitoring and predictive maintenance solutions, including floorplan markups, scope of work creation, and bill of materials creation 

Be a pillar of partnership with end users, to enhance and grow our relationships and overall footprint of Perceptiv around the globe.  

Serve as the technical lead in customer interactions through qualification, scoping and quoting phases of a customer project 

Perform customer asset criticality assessments, with a goal of accurately scoping a solution and bill of materials that meets the customer needs. 

Collaborate with Regal Rexnord sellers regarding Perceptiv opportunities, providing timely responses and expert advice in person and via phone or email 

Regularly travel on-site to customer plants to understand customer needs and challenges, and recommend appropriate condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and reliability solutions 

Work independently to cooperate and communicate with Sales and Product Management about new business opportunities, application solutions, and product/service development opportunities.  

Build slide decks about our solutions, applications, projects, products and present them in person and virtually, to audiences at customer sites, internally, or at tradeshows 

Lead  creation of documents and programs concerning the Perceptiv Services solutions, which may include case studies, whitepapers, best practices, instruction manuals, publications, FAQ’s, etc. 

Manage engineering projects in industrial condition monitoring and diagnostics using cross-functional teams to execute deliverables on-time.  

Train new colleagues in pre-sales, marketing, and reliability services as they come on board  

Escalate sales opportunities to Business Development Managers when discovered  

Stand as a reliable, independent Subject Matter Expert that other Regal Rexnord divisions can use a reference as needed to address internal condition monitoring applications. 

Ability to perform other ad-hoc responsibilities as directed by manager 

QUALIFICATIONS  

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Engineering or related experience

10 years relevant experience in a practical Equipment Reliability role 

2 years of practical application of torsional vibration analysis (TVA)

Knowledge in Reliability Best Practices  

Trained in RCM and WCER principles and able to competently discuss with external customers 

Registered CMRP preferred

 

EXPERIENCE  

Excellent hands-on mechanical and electrical knowledge 

Demonstrated experience independently troubleshooting issues at customer sites (on-site and remotely) for remote monitoring systems 

History of generating predictive maintenance reports for end-users and stakeholders, including vibration monitoring 

Good understanding of general manufacturing processes and heavy industrial processes  

Vibration Analyst Level II certification preferred  

Familiarity of rotodynamic and field telemetry systems 

Experience installing and utilizing torsional vibration analysis and industrial rotating equipment 

Previous experience supporting sales teams in an pre-sales or application engineering role 

Member of SMRP, AIST, or other professional organizations  preferred

Experience in our focus industries: Food & Beverage, Metals, Intralogistics, Mining, Heavy Industry, Oil & Gas 

Strong presentation and communication skills 

Ability to autonomously walk plants and manage customer interactions 

Fluent English 

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:   

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, ERP systems, and Networking  

Experience in 3D software/CAD, including Autocad and Solidworks to generate and update electrical and mechanical schematics 

Experience in Salesforce

Expected Salary: $110,000 - 150,000 annually.
