Reliability Standards & Compliance Engineer I
Summary

The Reliability Compliance and Standards Engineer supports the Manager in the implementation and maintenance of NYPA’s program for compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s (NERC) Reliability Standards; the Northeast Power Coordinating Council’s (NPCC) Regional Standards and Criteria; and the New York State Reliability Council’s (NYSRC) Rules.  The individual works with various departments within NYPA including; engineering, operations, corporate security, information services, training, human resources, and others to ensure compliance with the applicable standards. #LI-VB1

Responsibilities Monitor NERC & NPCC’s Compliance Monitoring & Enforcement Programs for their applicability to NYPA. Support the NYPA staff in the development of technical detailed processes and procedures to ensure compliance. Provide assistance to internal subject matter experts with interpretations on technical reliability standards requirements and actions and processes to ensure compliance. Assist in management of compliance enforcement actions including, but not limited to, mitigation plans, procedures, and responses to formal compliance inquiries. Support the implementation and administration of RSC’s Compliance software application. Support NYPA’s role in the compliance and standards formation processes of NERC, NPCC, and NYSRC. Assist in the implementation of RSC’s Education Program to ensure that the NYPA staffs fully understands roles and responsibilities required by the Reliability Standards and Criteria. Assist in the formal filing and records management of regulatory documents related to compliance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good knowledge of the NERC’s Reliability Standards; the Northeast Power Coordinating Council’s (NPCC) Regional Standards and Criteria; and the New York State Reliability Council (NYSRC) Rules. Strong technical knowledge in generation, bulk transmission system engineering, planning, design and operations in order to evaluate detailed oriented documents or materials to support compliance. Ability to conduct technical assessments involving review and interpretation of design documents and drawings for applicability to technical reliability standards. Excellent planning, organization and presentation skills in order to communicate to all audience levels. Exceptional team attitude and the ability to work independently. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships within the industry and with internal stakeholders. Experience with auditing or conducting assessments of technical policies, procedures, and programs preferred. Skills and experience with use of electronic data and document management systems. Familiar with Personal computers and office software such as MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint Education, Experience and Certifications BS Electrical Engineering or related field of engineering Minimum 6 yrs experience Physical Requirements

Approximately 25% travel throughout New York State to NYPA’s operating facilities and the geographic area covered by the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC), as necessary.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $99,350.00  - $136,600.00. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
