Remittance Process Assistant

Treasury is responsible for the cash and investment management activities of the AARP enterprise. This includes maintaining sufficient liquidity for operating needs, maximizing earnings on investments within policy guidelines and efficiently processing daily transactions. The Remittance Process Assistant performs lockbox services by receiving mail, operating mail opening equipment, processing payment by manual scanning to virtually capture member information. Responsibilities Prepares work for digitization by opening mail, extracting content, and scanning checks with remittance coupons and operates mail opening equipment with various processing functions and deadlines, meeting client Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Adheres to the Treasury Operations Center productivity and quality standards for all jobs, while maintaining accordance to the organization's document lifecycle procedures and archives with the records retention schedule. Identifies and processes exception transactions requiring manual handling such as payments with correspondence, foreign checks, credit cards and checks only. Collects and reunites rejected checks with payment coupons for reprocessing. Prepares, logs, and balances cash deposits by following the established processing procedures. Resolves discrepancies, if applicable. Sorts, labels, archives, and securely discards completed batches in accordance with the records retention schedule. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of mail opening equipment and communicates issues. Qualifications This is an in office position and the operating hours are Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Completion of High School, GED, and/or vocational training. 2+ years of experience in a check and document handling environment, or an equivalent combination of related training and relevant experience. Good communication and organizational skills are required. Ability to work overtime as required Incumbent(s) in this position may be required to perform other duties and special assignments not specifically stated. Preferred: Proficient in using personal computers and software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel. AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
