Remote DevOps Engineer (Secret Cleared)
Job Description The DevOps Engineer will play a key role in supporting the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data Systems (AFATDS) program by ensuring seamless integration, deployment, and maintenance of the software and systems infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing build scripts, the CI/CD pipeline, and the AXS installer, which automates the installation and configuration process for AFATDS components. Additionally, the DevOps Engineer will oversee the project infrastructure, encompassing both physical and virtual systems, as well as developer environments and virtual machines (VMs). This role will directly support the operational and development teams by ensuring secure, efficient, and consistent software delivery processes. Key Technologies * Java: developing and maintaining the core components of the AXS installer and other AFATDS-related applications. * Gradle & Mavel: automating build processes, dependency management, and software versioning, ensuring compatibility across AFATDS projects * PowerShell: scripting and automating tasks in Windows environments, such as managing configurations and deployments * CI/CD (GitLab, YAML): create and maintain pipelines for continuous integration and delivery, supporting automated testing and deployment * Bash: Scripting for Linux-based automation, including server management and configuration. * Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes): provides isolated environments for testing and deployment of AFATDS software, ensuring consistency across development and production environments. * Virtualization (VMWare, Proxmox): Enables the creation and management of virtual machines to simulate real-world testing environments for AFATDS. * Windows 10/11/Server * Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu/Debian) Day to Day * Maintain the build environment and CI/CD pipeline in CREATE/cDSO. * Work with development teams to develop and maintain AXS installer. * Work with development teams to maintain development environment/VM. * Maintain all lab equipment (virtual and physical) and support on-site activities, as needed. * Assisting with cyber "hardening" of software to ensure the delivered software is secure and meets required cyber security standards We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements Must Haves * Active DOD Secret * BA in Computer Science or a related field, or have equivalent work experience with demonstrable capabilities and results * Agile or Scrum development methodology * Git, Jenkins, Maven, and Gradle. o Git: version control to track and manage changes in AFATDS code. o Jenkins: automating build and deployment processes o Maven & Gradle: project build and dependency management * Windows, Linux, Virtual Machines, and Containers. o VMs: Simulating operational environments for testing o Containers: isolated environments for deploying and running software * Atlassian products (Jira, Bitbucket/Stash, Nexus) o Bitbucket/Stash: version control and repository management for collaboration o Nexus: Repository management for software dependencies * Experience with developing and maintaining a Java/PowerShell installer.
