REMOTE Environmental (Coordinator - Sr) - based within Abilene/San Angelo, TX, Region
**Job Posting End Date** 09-30-2024 Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end date. **Job Summary** Under limited supervision and oversight, the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals within their assigned region, plant and project scope. Responsibilities include providing training, guidance and other necessary support to business unit leadership and staff on applicable environmental requirements, identifying applicable environmental requirements associated with Company assets and projects, and coordinating with the appropriate business unit staff, Environmental Services representatives, contractors, and external parties to ensure compliance with environmental requirements. The Environmental Coordinator should have basic understanding of some of the following environmental programs: • Aboveground and underground storage tanks, • Transportation of hazardous materials, • Solid and hazardous waste management, • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, • Wastewater, storm water, groundwater, and drinking water sampling, reporting and control, • Oil and chemical spill response and management, • Air emissions monitoring, control and reporting, • Asbestos and PCB management, • Pollution prevention, • Environmental site assessments, and • Emergency planning, and community right-to-know. **Job Description** **Work Designation** **-- remote and based within AEP's service territory in our Abilene/San Angelo, TX, region** - **Abilene Region (within 30 minutes)** -- Anson (north), Hawley (north), Albany (North), Clyde (west), Baird (west), Cisco (west), Potosi (south), Sweetwater (east), Merkel (east) - **Between Abilene and San Angelo Region** -- Tuscola, Winters, Ballinger, Bronte - **San Angelo Region** -- Miles (North), Grape Creek (North), Carlsbad (North), Paint Rock (East), Sterling City (North), Wall (south), Eden (South), Christoval (South), Mertzon (South), Eldorado (South) Based on education, experience and interview, this opportunity will be filled commensurately at either title/grade in the Environmental Coordinator job family. For this posting, minimum requirements are stated at the lower grade. Increased expectations are at the higher grade: **Environmental Coordinator Sr. (grade 7)** **Environmental Coordinator (grade 6)** = bachelor's degree + six (6) years of experience; OR, equivalent education and/or experience ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Coordinate and implement all environmental activities and policies in the assigned region(s) to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and Company policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals. Assist and provide input to Environmental Services on the development of Company environmental policies and procedures. Communicate deviations appropriately. - Provide training, instruction and assistance to others on the implementation of environmental requirements and assist in the development of environmental training materials. - Provide support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing cleanup efforts if necessary and completing follow-up reports with regulatory agencies. - Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities. - Provide support during environmental compliance reviews, Phase I or II environmental site assessments and remediation projects. - Coordinate the response to public inquiries regarding environmental matters. - Develop and maintain all environmental documents and records in accordance with environmental content management standards. - Conduct environmental reviews of regional disposal contractors and related facilities and manage contracts associated with Environmental Services. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS **Education** : Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry, geology, physical science, etc.) or engineering, or equivalent education and/or experience. **Work Experience** : Six (6) years of environmental experience with a thorough knowledge of environmental programs and regulatory requirements applicable to the utility industry **Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Valid driver's license** OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand level is Sedentary - Ability to organize, direct, coordinate and implement environmental programs, policies and procedures and to make sound recommendations and decisions in matters related to environmental operations. - Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and work well with other employees and external audiences. **INITIAL POSITION / BASE SALARY FUNDING: ($70,961 - $104,268).
