Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it. The Data Center Operations group is looking for a Remote Field Service Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying and maintaining servers and supporting fixtures and infrastructure in our Remote Data centre locations across Europe. In this role you will focus on developing and sustaining solutions through communication and coordination with Apple Data Center teams and Business Groups to help deliver a solid infrastructure and services to meet global business objectives. We seek a self starter, visionary team player with strong infrastructure cabling capabilities to drive standards as well as innovative methodologies to achieve these objectives. DescriptionDescriptionIn this role you will help execute projects in the deployment and maintenance of compute servers, including cabling infrastructure and DCIM elements across the region. Large amount of travel is required to fulfil this role. A proven track record in vendor management for infrastructure expansion, enforce compliance with technical specifications and quality standards is also needed.  Core Competencies include: ·       Must be capable of independent problem solving and self-motivated. ·       Possesses a global perspective with the ability to understand and work effectively in a culturally diverse organisation.  ·       The proven ability to manage key stakeholder interests while at the same time managing conflicting priorities and business interests.  ·       Strong communicator at all levels with excellent oral and written skills to a variety of audiences. ·       Ability to organize and work effectively with other project teams and departments participating in DC related projects. ·      70% of travel a year required. Other responsibilities include: Lead material movements with Engineers, Project Managers and/or Customer Business teams on executing movements within required delivery timelines Ensure required actions are executed in Apple systems to facilitate job function Identify issues and perform Root Cause Analysis to prevent future operational impact.Minimum QualificationsMinimum QualificationsExpertise with data centre operational tasks, including rack sizing, construction, equipment installation and decommissioning. Willing to do hands-on activities.Hands-on experience with various copper and fibre cabling structures, cable infrastructure design and labelling methodology.Expertise with break-fix and incident management.Experience with DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) tools.
